Overview
Avelyne Waverly is a Kul Tiran sailor whose command of sea-oriented magic grew from genuine training in the Tidesage tradition. She remains devoted to the Tidemother and carries the knowledge of her early calling with her, but she found the wider religious and institutional life of the Tidesages ill suited to her.
Tidesage Training
Her difficulty was never with the sea. Avelyne’s affinity for it is real, as is her connection to the Tidemother. What failed to fit was the broader vocation expected of a Tidesage: its social world, customary duties, and way of life ashore.
A Life Afloat
Shipboard service offered her another path. Among crews and working sailors, Avelyne discovered that her strongest sense of belonging lay with people who lived by the sea rather than within a religious institution devoted to it. She entered the Kul Tiran Navy as a sailor and continues to bring Tidesage learning to naval life, using it in service of the waters and the people who cross them.
