Thraegar

Overview

Thraegar are Earthen hardened and crystallized like diamond. Among the Earthen of Khaz Algar, they are remembered as heroic signs whose presence can foretell danger; some traditions describe them as protectors and leaders empowered to guide their people in the keepers’ absence.

Magni Bronzebeard temporarily existed in this state after his transformation into the Diamond King. His later restoration did not undo the importance of that period to modern Earthen understanding of the thraegar.

Recovered titan records preserve a far more hostile account. They state that Earthen working near Azeroth’s worldsoul were altered by its influence, crystallized, and changed in their directives before rebelling against the titan-built Worldcore. The keepers suppressed and hunted those first thraegar, then imposed measures intended to prevent more from arising. The conflict between this record and later Earthen reverence remains central to the meaning of the name.

  • Aurik - a rare transformed Thraegar whose Azerite crystallization leaves him permanently Earthen.
  • Magni Bronzebeard - temporarily existed as a Thraegar during his time as the Diamond King.
