Overview
Hearthstones are extremely rare ancient telemantic artifacts. They provide reliable long-distance return with minimal user skill, but their design is narrow: a single fixed destination, long recovery, little destination flexibility, poor traffic capacity, heavy dependence on the artifact, and enormous embedded magical effort.
Fittz respects hearthstones as magnificent ancient machines and studies them as part of the foundation of modern telemancy. His view is that a hearthstone is a magnificent answer devised before anyone properly understood the question.
