Overview

Feoran Bladewing is a night elf Sentinel captain, Survival Hunter, and the elder brother of Denarin. Born several thousand years after the War of the Ancients, he was raised alongside Denarin and Selinora during the Long Vigil. He had no aptitude for druidic nature magic and instead devoted himself to the military defense of Kaldorei society.

Feoran fights at close range with a greatsword while a large sentinel owl companion scouts, hunts, and fights beside him. He was sincerely proud when Denarin became a druid, but his younger brother’s revered calling aggravated Feoran’s fear that he had failed as the eldest Bladewing. Selinora chose Feoran genuinely, though Denarin’s earlier withdrawal from pursuing her left a vulnerability Feoran never fully forgot.

The Burning of Teldrassil reopened those insecurities as guilt, grief, and rage. Feoran followed Tyrande into the Night Warrior’s vengeance, became increasingly violent and self-destructive, and eventually entered the Shadowlands after her with little concern for his own return. His time in Ardenweald, reunion with Denarin’s developing wild spirit, and Selinora’s pursuit of him began a slow recovery. Unlike Tyrande, Feoran eventually learns to live with his Night Warrior nature as controlled vigilance and protective wrath rather than casting it aside entirely.

Timeline

  • Born as the elder of the Bladewing brothers during the Long Vigil, several thousand years after the War of the Ancients.
  • Raised alongside Denarin and Selinora during the Long Vigil.
  • Entered Kaldorei military service through the Sentinels after showing no aptitude for druidic nature magic.
  • Developed into a greatsword-wielding Survival Hunter and bonded with a sentinel owl companion.
  • Rose to the rank of captain.
  • Became proud of Denarin’s druidic calling while privately fearing that his younger brother had surpassed him in spiritual importance.
  • Won Selinora’s love after Denarin withdrew from pursuing her, though the old insecurity remained.
  • Commanded Kaldorei forces on the ground in Darkshore during the War of Thorns while Denarin and Selinora remained on Teldrassil to aid the evacuation of Darnassus.
  • Watched Teldrassil burn from Darkshore; Selinora survived with severe scars after Denarin forced her through a failing portal, while Denarin remained behind and died.
  • Followed Tyrande into the Night Warrior’s path during the Fourth War and the campaign to reclaim Darkshore.
  • Encountered a persistent wisp that was actually Denarin trying to warn him.
  • Followed Tyrande into the Shadowlands during the War Against the Jailer without meaningful plans for his return.
  • In Ardenweald, perceived Denarin more clearly as Denarin developed into a spirit of the wild.
  • Returned toward the living world after Selinora caught up to him and helped persuade him not to sacrifice himself to grief.
  • Began a long recovery, learning to carry his Night Warrior nature as controlled vigilance rather than self-destruction.

Hooks

  • Define Feoran’s exact Sentinel command and operational specialty.
  • Name and develop his sentinel owl companion, including whether the owl is altered by his Night Warrior connection.
  • Define how Feoran acquires his Night Warrior nature and why his version is survivable.
  • Determine how much Night Warrior power he retains after Ardenweald.
  • Explore the damage Feoran’s unilateral journey into the Shadowlands does to Selinora’s trust.
  • Establish how his relationship with Tyrande changes when their responses to the Night Warrior burden diverge.
  • Preserve lingering anger toward Denarin alongside love and forgiveness.
  • Decide how Feoran resumes or reshapes military command after learning that survival and responsibility are inseparable.

Appearance

Feoran is a tall, powerfully athletic male night elf with purple skin, swept-back white hair, long pointed ears, luminous silver-blue eyes, strong angular features, dark purple facial markings, antler-like brow ornamentation, and a short white goatee.

He wears ornate Kaldorei armor in deep violet, black, and gold, decorated with feather motifs, crescent shapes, and bright blue moonlike gems. His equipment is heavier than that of a conventional archer and suited to close combat. He carries a large ornate greatsword with lunar and avian design elements.

His bonded owl is enormous, grey-white, and armored in matching Kaldorei ornamentation. After Feoran embraces the Night Warrior, his eyes and lunar effects darken or become star-filled when the power is invoked, while his overall silhouette remains that of a Sentinel hunter rather than a priest or druid.
