Black Guard of Naggarond

The Black Guard of Naggarond are Malekith’s elite warriors, bound to him through the Dragon Oath. Initiates know their ancestral lineage but renounce allegiance to their birth families, placing service to the Witch King at the centre of their lives.

Their barracks comprise twenty Towers, including the Tower of Grief. The obligation of two centuries’ service carries the promise of rewards from Malekith, a prospect that can offer surviving veterans wealth, estates, and opportunities for further advancement.

The two-handed halberd is their traditional armament. Military command rests upon rank, position, and the authority delegated through the Witch King’s establishment.

Known Connections

Caldyris belongs to the Tower of Wrath. His reputation for ruthless effectiveness earned him the Name of Power Grimblade, and his long service gives him the experience to command an elite squad in the invasion of Ulthuan. With about thirty years remaining before completion of his obligation, he regards the promised rewards as a possible foundation for greater political and military influence.

Notes

The twenty-Tower organization and Tower of Grief are inherited WHFB lore. The Tower of Wrath and Caldyris’s service history are approved additions. Black Guard membership alone does not confer automatic command over every ordinary Druchii officer.
