Border Princes

The Karak Azul noble responsible for the assassination of Yurric’s Thane fled to the Border Princes after his conspiracy was exposed. He settled within the territory of a Dwarf prince beyond the immediate reach of the hold’s authorities.

The prince regards the administration of his territory as his own responsibility. He refuses to enforce Karak Azul’s judgment simply because another ruler demands it, leaving the fugitive at liberty and Aibhinger’s grudge unsettled. That refusal rests upon jurisdiction, rather than endorsement of the crime or active protection of its perpetrator.

Notes

The prince’s identity and territory, the fugitive’s activities, and the eventual outcome remain open. This individual Dwarf principality does not establish Dwarf sovereignty or an Order allegiance for the Border Princes as a whole.
