Overview
Aidan Dreadmoore, known in occult matters as Dresmorsius, is the middle son of House Dreadmoore, born in 19 BDP. He is a warlock, worgen-cursed lord, and the man who sabotaged the old Baron’s continuance rite. His curses weaken, drain, sicken, and wait. The first s in his chosen mononym is silent.
House Dreadmoore
Aidan grew up close enough to the Dreadmoore inheritance to be shaped by it, but never close enough to possess it without danger. Morton was the heir; Jarcey was young enough to escape. Aidan learned the family’s warlock arts with the caution of a man who expected every promise of power to conceal a trap.
He was told as a child that his parents had died in a traveling accident. In time, he discovered that his father had been sacrificed in a Morrivar crypt to prolong the Baron’s life, while his mother’s fate had been erased from the family’s record. The Baron’s longevity rested on stolen Morrivar magic and the sacrifice of eldest heirs. Morton found enough of the same truth to seek the rite for himself. Neither brother trusted the other enough to speak plainly.
The Broken Rite
Aidan chose sabotage. He weakened the curse at the heart of the Baron’s continuance so that the old man could not steal another generation of life. Morton reached for the very power Aidan had poisoned. The rite collapsed in the Morrivar crypt: Morton died, and the Baron was broken or killed. House Dreadmoore passed to Aidan through a catastrophe he had intended but never fully meant to cause.
He ruled afterward without pretending innocence. Morton’s death was bound to a mechanism Aidan had touched, and the guilt made him colder and more controlled rather than gentler. When Morton returned as Forsaken, Aidan first felt relief that his brother was not truly gone. That relief curdled as Morton resumed the authority of the elder son and brought the name Morrivar, undeath, and old claims back into a house Aidan had struggled to hold.
Curse and the Chosen Name
The Forsaken invasion of Gilneas destroyed what remained of House Dreadmoore’s standing. Morton fought in Gilneas’s defense, but an undead Dreadmoore on the battlefield confirmed every fear the family had long inspired. Aidan’s own worgen curse became another inheritance he refused to accept. He seeks a true cure, not mere discipline or a way to live comfortably with the beast, pursuing old blood, cursecraft, forbidden theory, and remedies other men refuse to touch.
He adopted Dresmorsius as a deeper occult name, not as a replacement for Aidan Dreadmoore. Morton took a false name that became true by survival. Aidan chose a name that bound together the ruined Baron, the broken rite, the house he inherited, and the death he survived. He loves Morton, resents him, and cannot decide whether House Dreadmoore can ever breathe while his elder brother keeps returning from the dead.
