Overview

Jarcen “Jarcey” Dreadmoore was the youngest son of House Dreadmoore, born in 15 BDP. He is a Gilnean rifleman, hunter, trapper, dog breeder, and practical engineer. Unlike Morton and Aidan, he never embraced the family’s warlock inheritance. He spent most of his life trying to put enough distance between himself and the Dreadmoore name that it could no longer reach him.

House Dreadmoore and Military Service

Jarcey remembered little of the gentler parts of his childhood and learned early that the safest answer to House Dreadmoore’s demands was distance. He left as soon as the wars gave him an excuse. During the First War, he sought any Gilnean posting that would take him beyond Dreadmoore walls. By the Second War, he had become a rifleman of powder, patience, and cold habit, keeping his weapon clean, his dogs trained, and his sightlines chosen before anyone else knew a fight was coming.

After the war, he left service and returned to the woods near Pyrewood Village. There he built the closest thing to a life he trusted: hunting, trapping, raising dogs, and making his own rifles, ammunition, explosives, tools, motorcycles, gyrocopters, and other useful machines. He trusted springs, gears, powder, dogs, and terrain because they did what they were made to do and rarely lied about it.

Pyrewood and Gilneas

The worgen threat worsened slowly around Pyrewood. Jarcey read the tracks and changing pattern of the woods long before the town’s militia accepted how serious the danger had become. When Pyrewood fell, he became one of the few living, uncursed humans left outside the Greymane Wall.

Then the Forsaken came. Jarcey resisted them as he had resisted everything else that entered his woods without permission. Scouts vanished, patrols found traps beneath their feet, roads failed, supplies burned, and rifle fire came from angles they had not seen. He could not stop an army alone. When Darius Crowley, the Bloodfang Pack, and the Gilneas Liberation Front retook Pyrewood, he joined their fight. He refused the worgen blood and remained human among men who had been remade by the curse: the sole man among wolves.

Redyn

Jarcey met Redyn during the Gilneas and Silverpine fighting and soon understood that Redyn had accepted the worgen curse. He neither exposed him nor demanded an explanation. Their methods fit together with unusual precision. Redyn handles infiltration, assassination, sabotage, and covert movement; Jarcey provides ranged overwatch, traps, demolitions, engineering, hunting skill, and control of the ground. They collaborate on weapons, devices, vehicles, and mission equipment.

Their partnership becomes effectively permanent. Neither man treats it sentimentally, and there is no romantic element to it, but each trusts the other above almost anyone else. Jarcey protects Redyn’s secrets, and Redyn gives unusual weight to Jarcey’s judgment. Each remains dangerous alone; together they are worse.

Later Service

Jarcey later fights at the Siege of Orgrimmar and joins the Unseen Path during the Third Invasion of the Burning Legion, serving as he always has: rifleman, engineer, trapper, hunter, and survivor. In Pandaria, he works beside Redyn with the Alliance expedition, providing field support, defenses, marksmanship, and engineering while Redyn conducts intelligence and covert operations.

After the Legion war, Jarcey joins Morrivar Company. He does not do so because he has made peace with old houses. He joins because some people have proved worth standing beside, and because the world still contains things that need to be tracked, trapped, shot, burned, or buried before they reach someone else’s door.
