Overview

Rehlos is an ancient draenei death knight and wielder of Apocalypse. Long before undeath, he was known as Vindicator Rehlos of the Aldor, a holy warrior whose life reached back beyond the draenei settlement of Draenor.

Vindicator of the Aldor

Rehlos was already serving the Aldor when Alliance adventurers began to gather in Shattrath during the Outland campaign. As a Vindicator, he was a paladin and holy warrior: an established defender, Aldor representative, and bridge between the Alliance arrivals and an institution already deeply engaged in the struggle against Illidan, the Legion, and their allies.

He became attached to the wider Alliance effort without becoming subordinate to Tinks or any other newly arrived adventurer. His knowledge of Aldor affairs, long experience, and holy strength gave the group a local institutional connection as well as another veteran fighter. In the wider Outland conflict, his place parallels Vanyael’s from the opposing political world: both entered the protagonists’ path from factions already embedded in the war rather than from the ordinary expeditionary route.

Death and Raising

Rehlos survived the Outland campaign. During the lead-up to, or opening of, the second Scourge invasion, he was killed and raised at Acherus in the same broad cohort as Mourgrim and Zan’zak. The loss of his former holy vocation and the violence of his new existence remain central to him: he was a paladin before becoming a death knight.

Acherus and the Ebon Blade

Rehlos broke free of Arthas with the Acherus death knights and remained with the Knights of the Ebon Blade after their liberation. The order became his primary allegiance and the place in which he rebuilt a purpose after death. He developed into one of Mourgrim’s closest comrades, bound less by easy companionship than by long service, shared undeath, and confidence in one another’s judgment.

Legion

During the Third Invasion of the Burning Legion, when Mourgrim served as Deathlord, Rehlos became his principal right hand. He fights with the unholy powers of a death knight and carries Apocalypse as his signature weapon. His rank, specific duties, and the exact shape of his command remain open, but his place beside Mourgrim within the Ebon Blade does not.
