Overview

Rastakhan is King of Zandalar and sovereign of the Zandalari Empire before Queen Talanji. His rule belongs to Zandalar’s sacral monarchy, in which royal authority, the loa, and the political life of the empire are inseparable. Rezan is the historic principal patron of Rastakhan’s royal line, but the legitimacy of the crown rests within the wider loa-supported order of Zandalar rather than in an exclusive divine ownership of kingship.

Role in the Lore

Hukhano’s Pandaria mandate comes from Rastakhan, not personally from Zul or Khar’zul. When Hukhano determines that Zul has deceived the king and subordinated Zandalari interests to Lei Shen, he withdraws his own forces and reports directly to Rastakhan in Dazar’alor.
