Canon Overview
Rezan was the great loa of kings and the historic patron of the Zandalari royal line. His associations with leadership, rulership, strength, courage, honor, and royal authority, together with his enduring patronage of the royal family, gave the title its force. The title did not make kingship an exclusive metaphysical domain controlled by Rezan alone: Zandalari monarchy belongs within a wider sacred order sustained by the loa. His death was a decisive wound to Zandalar’s old order and a major victory for the blood trolls and G’huun’s servants.
Kurakan remains devoted to Rezan after his death and seeks the return of Rezan himself, not the succession of another loa. Rezan’s remaining essence and its connection to Vol’jin give Kurakan reason to hope that such a restoration may still be possible. Although Rezan’s death changes the royal family’s divine relationship, it does not end the sacred character of Zandalari kingship; Talanji remains a legitimate sacred monarch with Bwonsamdi as her principal royal patron.
