Canon Overview
The Gnomish Elite Aerial Rangers, or G.E.A.R., are an elite gnomish aerial task force representing the best that Gnomeregan has to offer. The unit is formed during the Battle for Azeroth, when its commander is selected from a shortlist of gnomish candidates.
In this continuity, G.E.A.R. is the later institutional evolution of the Gnomeregan R.A.N.G.E.R.S. Corps. It retains the older corps’ habits of technical fieldcraft, reconnaissance, mobility, autonomy, and practical judgment, but applies them to a more militarized aerial role.
Known Connections
- Tinks - commander, selected when the unit is formed.
- Corvo Cogblast - founder of the ranger tradition and senior command figure; remains field-capable, while Tinks commands G.E.A.R.’s routine operations, personnel, readiness, deployments, and mission execution.
- Boltin - Rustbolt Resistance liaison during the Mechagon campaign and a close field partner of the commander.
- Prince Erazmin - assigns Boltin as the Rustbolt liaison during the Mechagon expedition.
- Gnomeregan R.A.N.G.E.R.S. Corps - predecessor corps whose field culture and remote-operation doctrine inform G.E.A.R.
