Overview
Lynara Doomwind is a Sorceress of the Dark Convent, renowned for the extraordinary power she can draw from the Winds of Magic. Approximately a century of practice has made her an experienced member of the Convent, with a reputation built especially upon the magnitude of her destructive sorcery. She accompanies Caldyris’s squad aboard the Nemesis during the invasion of Ulthuan.
Personality
Intelligent, imperious, and ambitious, Lynara regards magical power as something to master regardless of cost. She possesses both substantial learning and the experience required to navigate the Convent, but it is the sheer force of her sorcery that most distinguishes her. The name Doomwind recalls the spectacular feats through which she earned that reputation.
Her confidence in her own power does not make experience or technical accomplishment irrelevant. Older Sorceresses may possess knowledge and refinement beyond hers even when she can channel extraordinary quantities of Dark Magic. She has spent a century practising a dangerous craft, long enough to understand that strength can take more than one form.
History and Family
Lynara comes from a wealthy Druchii family and retains an interest in its welfare and fortunes. Its wealth, standing, and political influence matter to her, as do the family ties themselves. Those concerns remain subordinate to her allegiance to the Dark Convent, which she would neither abandon nor betray for her relatives.
Her century of professional practice has given her a place within that institution and earned her the Name of Power Doomwind. The name refers to her accomplishments as a Sorceress, rather than to her ancestry.
The Ulthuan Campaign
The Convent and the Tower of Wrath arrange Lynara’s service with Caldyris’s newly assembled squad through negotiations conducted by their superiors. She and Caldyris have no part in settling the terms and little interest in examining them afterward. The arrangement brings an experienced Sorceress and an experienced Black Guard together for the invasion.
Lynara recognizes Caldyris’s operational command while exercising her own professional discretion. Her institutional obligations continue throughout the assignment; her service with the squad does not make her his personal retainer.
Religion
The Convent’s principal divine association is Hekarti, goddess of Dark Magic, whose worship has a natural place in a Sorceress’s vocation. That association exists alongside the wider Druchii pantheon, in which Khaine and other deities may also receive veneration. Lynara’s professional allegiance belongs to the Convent, an institution distinct from the Cult of Khaine.
Relationships
Her association with Caldyris begins as cooperation between representatives of the Tower and Convent. The agreement negotiated above them gives each a clear responsibility: Caldyris commands the operation, while Lynara brings the magical power and judgment of an established Sorceress.
Her interest in her birth family persists alongside that professional life. Family welfare and influence are continuing concerns, though the Convent remains her first institutional loyalty.
