Canon Overview
Dalaran was the magocratic city-state ruled by the Kirin Tor. Founded by human magi of the Arathorian Empire after the Troll Wars, it became one of Azeroth’s foremost centers of arcane study and magical power. It was destroyed during The War Within after Xal’atath infiltrated the Council of Six through the impersonation of Drenden.
Known Connections
- Rhox - a founding-generation archmage who later helped return Dalaran to the Alliance and became leader of the surviving Kirin Tor after the city’s destruction.
- Fittz - studied, taught, and rose in the Kirin Tor there.
- Telemancy - Dalaran’s modern portal infrastructure is strongly shaped by Fittz’s research.
- Ittybitty - was safe there when Gnomeregan fell.
- During the Legion era, Dalaran temporarily restored cross-faction neutrality. In this continuity, the War of Thorns and the burning of Teldrassil ended that policy; Dalaran formally rejoined the Alliance and remained Alliance-aligned until its destruction.
