Overview
Mourgrim is a Marauder of the Raven Host, a brutal northern warrior whose explosive aggression is matched by an extraordinary ability to survive injury. He later becomes the most notable shock warrior in Rehlos’s field command.
Personality
Mourgrim’s presence is heavy and implacable. His ferocity can erupt with berserker force, yet the menace he carries is that of an executioner advancing upon a task. He has little interest in command or elaborate plans. Directing him toward something that needs killing gives him all the structure he wants.
Wounds that would incapacitate or kill ordinary warriors often fail to stop him. He can continue fighting under punishment that makes his survival difficult to comprehend. Defeating him may require repeated, overwhelming force; an apparently lethal blow offers no reliable assurance that he will stay down.
History
Mourgrim progresses through the early Chaos trials by aggression, brute strength, and repeated survival. He succeeds through the violence he can inflict and endure, accumulating a reputation for rising when he should have remained fallen.
During the Raven Host Proving, he first converges meaningfully with Rehlos, Carsybe, and Craeven. Their different strengths serve the same objective, and the success of that cooperation brings their paths together again. Within Rehlos’s later, larger formation, Mourgrim becomes the outstanding front-line Marauder rather than an officer.
Relationships
Rehlos’s directions give Mourgrim targets worth attacking, an arrangement suited to his appetite for direct violence. Carsybe and Craeven serve the same command as sorcerous adviser and religious authority. Among its warriors, Mourgrim’s endurance and effectiveness make him one of the most memorable survivors of the early proving trials.
