Overview
Vandryk is a first-generation dracthyr warrior and the operational commander of Emberwake. He carries the experience of nearly the entire three-century period between the dracthyr’s creation and their confinement in the Forbidden Reach creches.
Before and After Stasis
Vandryk had already become an established veteran before the creches were permanently sealed. When he awoke during Dragonflight, he was not a newly formed soldier entering the world for the first time, but a warrior with a long lost career behind him and the standing to meet experienced members of Morrivar Company as a peer.
Command of Emberwake
Vandryk commands Emberwake in the field. Vathor brought the unit into Morrivar Company and supports it at a senior level, but Vandryk sets operational standards, makes field decisions, and holds each member accountable. That authority is particularly important in the case of Infinis: Emberwake is neither a private command for Vathor nor a containment project for an Infinite defector.
